In fact, health experts often recommend eating follow a rainbow diet plan as part of a healthy eating plan to get all nutrients your body needs to function normally. Eating a diet consisting of plenty of colourful foods may be beneficial for the immune system to fight off any potential diseases.
Samantha Heller, a registered dietitian and senior clinical nutritionist at NYU Langone Health in New York, told CNN that although there is no specific food or diet that helps rid the body of disease, eating foods full of nutrients can be offer immense health benefits. The Reds: Red fruits and vegetables - such as tomatoes, red peppers, strawberries, pink grapes - are loaded with phytochemicals (lycopene and anthocyanins) that may help protect against certain diseases including cancer and diabetes. They can also support eye health and keep your skin healthy.
The Oranges: The antioxidants in these foods - carrots, oranges, lemons, sweet potatoes, papayas, pumpkins, et - help prevent free radical damage to your DNA. Orange colored foods contain zeaxanthin, flavonoids, lycopene, potassium, vitamin C and beta-carotene, which help your body in many different ways, from your eyes and skin to your heart and bones.
