MT. AUBURN, Ohio (WKRC) - A local hospital is celebrating survivors.

The heart and vascular team at The Christ Hospital is celebrating heart disease and stroke survivors ahead of the American Heart Association's Heart Mini Sunday.

There was a special Survivor Walk Friday inside the hospital hallways. The nurses, doctors, staff and family members, as well as previous patients, were invited to have their own Heart Mini as part of the special event. They're trying to encourage those still in treatment and let them know they are not alone.

Thousands will be pulling for them Sunday morning at the walk and race as well. They even presented the patients who walked at the hospital Friday with actual Heart Mini medals, which will also be given to those competing on Sunday.

There's also an educational event at the Duke Energy Convention Center Saturday.
