The next Healthy Heart workshop is scheduled for 5 p.m. July 5 at the Friendly Kitchen, 131 Central Ave., Dunkirk, for an evening of food, crafts and fun. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to share in the making of a craft and sampling healthy foods.
The Friendly Kitchen is open to local adults, families, children and parents to join in a healthy eating evening to sample homemade soups and wraps from healthy food items including chicken, tuna, fruit, nuts, dried fruit, and fresh and roasted vegetables.
There will be a drawing at 5:30 p.m. for adult participants for a new kitchen or nutrition-related item. Participants must sign in at the door to be eligible for a chance for the giveaway. Instead of a craft this month, each participant can select either a tomato or pepper plant for the garden.
The Healthy Heart Workshops are generally scheduled for the first Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. Each event will last about 90 minutes and is offered free of charge. There is limited seating for the workshops, so call the Rural Ministry, or email [email protected] for a reserved seat.
