CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- We all know water is important to good health, and on Wednesday West Virginia American Water set the stage for a workshop to help improve health and wellness at workplaces around the Kanawha Valley.
The Heart Health & Workplace Wellness Lunch & Learn was sponsored by the American Heart Association and provided plenty of information to help folks create programs and initiatives in their workplaces to put the spotlight on heart health encouraging employees to take care of themselves.
Heart disease and stroke continue to be the number one and number five killers of all Americans.
"The goal with an event like this is just to get people thinking about what makes sense for me to bring back to my workplace to help promote healthier lifestyles with my coworkers," Laura Martin explained.
Martin is a fitness enthusiast, but is also the External Affairs Manager at West Virginia American Water. She is also the chairwoman of the 2018 American Heart Association -- Healthy for Good Charleston Heart Walk that will be held later this year.
