Little boy receives heart transplant, thanks kind strangers who sent him over 3,000 cards (WKRC)

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A little boy at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is making an amazing recovery in part thanks to many of you.

You may remember Gavin Wilson, a young boy who did get a heart transplant a few months ago, but he also got so much more.

When the plea for birthday cards for Gavin was put out, you responded, and Gavin and his mom could not be more grateful.

Just a few months ago, before a generous family gave Gavin his second donated heart, he was hooked up to a heart pump and getting ready for a birthday party.

“Today we are celebrating his half birthday, because on his previous birthday, he had a heart attack,” said Gavin’s mother Tia, on that day.

He had a wish that day. It was for a new heart and a lot of birthday cards.

On Friday, there was a musical celebration from a little boy who is not only celebrating the healing of a broken heart, but healing that happened with the help of so many of you that answered that wish.

Gavin and his mom Tia sat down to not only share the miracle but to say a special thank you to so many of you that kept Gavin’s spirit strong.

“I’d like to say thank you for the prayers, because prayers matter,” said Tia.

You can still send cards and letters to:
