“They also contain a powerful antioxidant called lycopene, which may improve heart health and protect against a number of cancers.
“A daily serving of tomatoes or tomato products is ideal.
“However, consuming tomatoes only a few times a week still offers many health benefits.”
Just one tomato every day is enough to lower your risk of a heart attack.
But, eating four sun-dried tomatoes provides the most lycopene - slightly more than drinking a small glass of tomato juice.
When you’re buying tomatoes, look for fresh, ripe and dark red ones, as they contain the most lycopene.

An unhealthy diet could lead to a hardening of the arteries, which increases the chances of a myocardial infarction.
Fatty plaques could build up in the arteries if you follow a high-fat diet plan, which can lead to blood clots.
Having high blood pressure also increases your risk of a heart attack.
All adults over 40 years old should check their blood pressure at least every five years.
