The next Healthy Heart workshop is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Friendly Kitchen on Central Avenue Parents are encouraged bring their children to share in the sampling healthy foods. This will be the last Healthy Heart meal at the current Rural Ministry location. October’s Healthy Heart meal will be held at the new Rural Ministry Offices at 319 Washington St..
The Friendly Kitchen is open to local adults, families, children and parents to join in a healthy eating evening to sample homemade soups, wraps and roll ups from healthy food items including chicken, tuna, fruit, nuts, dried fruit, and fresh and roasted vegetables. This month will feature wraps made from local produce – also health meat/fish choices and dessert roll ups.
There will be a drawing at 5:30 p.m. for adult participants for a new kitchen or nutrition related item. Participants must sign in at the door to be eligible for a chance for the giveaway. This month the giveaway with be a new Rice Cooker.
The Healthy Heart Workshops are generally scheduled for the first Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. Each workshop will last about 90 minutes and is offered free of charge. There is limited seating for the workshops, so please call the Rural Ministry, or email ccrmsahl[email protected] for a reserved seat.
