CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee residents gathered at a local bar to help raise money for a young woman in need of a double transplant Friday night.

TD's Sports Pub hosted a fundraiser event for 27-year-old Lauren Meizo.

Meizo is currently at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston awaiting her second heart transplant and first kidney transplant.

She's been living there since January.

Meizo’s parents told 22News that the past four months have been hard on their family, but the support they've received has helped tremendously.

“It's minute to minute you live,” said Lynne and Dean Robitaille. “It takes its toll so coming to a festival like this, I don't have any words.”

Meizo became suddenly famous this month when Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski visited her in the hospital.

Another fundraising event will be held at the Waterfront Tavern in Holyoke on June 29.

All proceeds will go towards Meizo’s medical costs.
