BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - We have sad news to report about a brave local boy who has been battling heart complications since his donor surgery last month.

Brayden Eidenshink, the brave local boy who battled heart transplant complications, has passed away, according to family.

Brayden is a 10-year-old Bakersfield boy who many of you have rallied behind over the last few weeks, even years. Brayden waited nearly 5 years for a heart transplant.

In October, family shared the news that Brayden got his heart donor. But it was a battle to keep his health up since the surgery.

The community poured their hearts to support Brayden. We wore red, attended fundraisers and provided updates from the family Facebook page, "Brayden's Brave Heart" with over 12,000 likes.

The family is asking for respect during this time. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
