WACO, Texas 5.7 million Americans are living with heart failure and yet many of those who suffer its effects don't even know what it means.
Doctors from Baylor Scott and White Health are trying to change that narrative by hosting events like the "Living with Heart Failure."
Saturday morning at the Hillcrest medical center clinical experts such as cardiologists and nutrition met with people from around the area in an effort to help them understand how to treat heart failures and how to reduce your chances.
Doctor Albert Hicks for Baylor Scott and White Temple wanted guests to walk away knowing more than what they knew before coming.
"Just recognizing the signs and symptoms of heart failure. Understanding how deadly the disease can be but also understanding that there is a lot of hope if you do have it because of the many treatments that we do have."
